Marie and I took a very unplanned spontaneous trip to Atlantic Beach. My mom and sister were there for a conference for my mom and called and convinced us to come join the fun. We had a wonderful trip. Marie loves the water... any water... bathtub... puddles... sippy cup... ocean. The hotel had a great indoor pool that we played in everyday. Marie loved it. We went into Beaufort one of the days and enjoyed watching the sail boats, sharing chocolate icecream and visiting the museum. This place was beautiful. It was a truly wonderful trip.

How Marie Drinks
Rhode Island
Marie had her first plane ride the weekend of her birthday. We flew to Rhode Island for a couple days for my cousin Amy's wedding. It was such a wonderful trip. We went with my mom and dad and sister Becky. Marie did great on the plane. The hardest part was keeping her in our aisle. She wanted to explore. She loved to look out the windows. She was also very helpful with the luggage.
We got to see Mary Lou who we haven't seen in a while. We got some pictures with her. We also got to see Uncle Mike and Sandy, Zach and his wife who we just loved, Amy and her now husband who are also wonderful. We had the best time seeing the beautiful harbors and just enjoying New England. It made me miss New England so much. This is where I am from (Maine). I realized that deep down I am a New Englander at heart.

My friend Michelle
Once I started I couldn't stop... so here is post number 2 for today. I think in one day I've doubled what I did in the last two years!
I have a friend Michelle who comes to see me once a week. We use to work at Derm together and I really really miss not seeing her everyday. She is the best friend anyone could ask for... fun, loving, kind, a good listener... just all around awesome. Plus she loves Marie and Marie loves her!
Michelle just announced that she is moving to CA so Marie and I are very very sad. We just lost Dana to "Tonsin" and I'm still not over that! I need to stop running my friends out of the state.
I know it is probably corny posting about friend but I thought I should give a shout out to such a cool chick. Here are pictures from a very fun day at Michelle's parents pool.
Marie is almost 1
I can't believe how fast this year has gone. Marie is going to be ONE on September 26th. This has seriously been the best year. I LOVE motherhood. I love it way more than I imagined I would.
Marie started walking really early. She has been walking since 9 months. I was definitely not ready for that! I enjoy her new found curiosity though. She has become super independent since developing mobility. She is no longer my cuddly baby... I can't help but thinking that I lost my baby and I now have a toddler. I don't know what the age limits are for baby vs. toddler but since she is walking and running and now climbing... I find it hard to believe that she isn't a toddler? This is sad to me :( But also exciting and fun :)
She says "mama," "Dada" and "uh oh." She loves dogs and is starting to say doggie but it isn't very clear. She does say "boom" all the time and I'm not quite sure what that is about because neither LaMont nor I walk around saying "Boom." It is funny to me that she has fallen in love with dogs because LaMont and I are NOT pet people at all. We will never in our lives own a pet. Even when our children beg for a dog we will not ever ever cave. It is a good thing our neighbor has a dog! Marie stands in our driveway and barks at the neighbors dog. My grandpa has two dogs that Marie gets to see as well and she LOVES these moments.
I can't believe how lucky I am to be Marie's mother. She has brought so much happiness into our home and it just gets better and better every day.
I promise to post more now that I remembered my password for blogspot!
